RIGNOS — ENGINE TEST STATION
Guide for the shop
============================

Plug an RP1210 adapter into the truck and the laptop becomes a guided test
station: step-by-step instructions in plain words, live gauges, steps that
tick themselves off when you hold them, a power curve, fault codes decoded in
the maker's own wording, and a report written for you at the end.

TWO EDITIONS
------------
TECHNICIAN Diagnostics. It reads the bus. The only thing it sends to the
truck is the fault-code clear command (DM11 / DM3) at the final
step, and only when you allow it. It does not write
              calibrations.

ADVANCED The same app, plus RIGNOS Flash, which DOES write calibrations
to the ECM. Put it only on the machines that need it.

The edition is shown in EDITION.txt next to the app.

WHAT YOU NEED
-------------
  · Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  · An RP1210-compliant adapter with the maker's driver already installed.
NEXIQ USB-Link is what we test on.
  · A Rignos account

INSTALLING
----------
Run the Setup for your edition and press INSTALL.

  · Installs into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Rignos Technician (or \Rignos Advanced).
    No administrator rights needed.
  · Adds a desktop shortcut and a Start Menu entry, and appears in Windows
"Apps & features" so it uninstalls like any other program.
  · Installing over an existing copy KEEPS the files you have edited — the
test script and the fault-code guide. The new versions are written beside
them ending in .moi so you can compare and merge.

To roll out without the install window appearing:

    Rignos-Setup.exe /im

LICENCE
-------
The app checks your licence against your account each time it starts. A
verified session lasts up to twelve hours. If the licence expires or is
revoked, new operations are blocked — an operation already running is not
interrupted.

Do not copy activation codes between computers. Each machine holds its own
seat, and your account page shows every machine and its renewal date.

AT THE TRUCK
------------
 1. Plug the adapter into the truck. Key on.

 2. Open Rignos and press CONNECT & START TEST.

 3. Follow the steps on screen. The tachometer has a GREEN BAND — holding the
needle inside it is what makes a step pass. Any step you cannot do, press
    Skip step.

 4. FINAL STEP: engine OFF, key still ON. Three seconds after the engine
stops, the app sends the clear command (DM11 + DM3) to each module and
reports the outcome about fifteen seconds later.
With the engine running most ECMs refuse to clear, so the app does not
send. Wait for the result before you switch the key off.

 5. The app writes the report itself. Everything lands in a folder named
Rignos-<date-time> next to the app, with a .zip of the same name.

WHAT CLEARING CODES REALLY DOES
-------------------------------
STORED codes are what a clear command actually removes.

ACTIVE codes come straight back while the cause is still there. That is
normal, not a failure of the tool.

PERMANENT (DM28) codes are not touched by DM11 or DM3 at all. The ECM
releases them itself once it has verified the repair over drive cycles, or
the maker's own software clears them — DDDL on Detroit, for example.

The app lists permanent codes under their own heading so one is never
mistaken for a code your clear command should have removed.

There is more on the fault screen under "Learn more", and in
huong-dan-ma-loi-en.txt next to the app — that file is yours to edit if you
want to add your shop's own advice.

WHICH ENGINES AND ECMs
----------------------
The current list — and how far each one has actually been proven, on a real
truck or only on the bench — is published at:

    rignos.com/supported

Your truck is almost certainly J1939 and will record even if its engine is
not on that list. The list is what we have proven, not a limit.

IF SOMETHING IS WRONG
---------------------
Email rignos@vietdiesel.com with the session folder (or its .zip) attached.
That folder holds the raw frames, so a problem can usually be worked out
without going back to the truck.
